Our first Primary School at Countesswells will be a two-stream school accommodating 434 pupils with an additional 60 nursery children. Plans include a large outdoor area incorporating an outdoor classroom and artificial pitch.
The new school will have a prominent and accessible location within the community, adjacent to the neighbourhood centre to the north of Countesswells overlooking the Cults Burn Park, with a “safe route to school” being put in place to allow children to safely walk and cycle to school.
Areas within the primary school, including the outdoor pitch, will be available out-with school hours for the use of the community for groups, clubs, meetings etc.

Current primary school provision
Whilst we await the new school building at Countesswells, Countesswells Primary School is being housed in Hazelwood School. The school at Hazlewood benefits from a large outdoor space with play equipment for the enjoyment and encouragement of active play. In addition to that, the pupils have access to their own classroom space, library, gym hall and dining room. The school has appointed a Head Teacher, Mrs Paula Rough, together with a further class teacher and two Primary School Assistants. All staff, along with the pupils will transfer to the new Primary School once it is completed.
The masterplan also makes provision for a Secondary School which will be situated in a prominent location to the eastern end of the Central Park with the view of bringing in a second primary school thereafter, adjacent to the secondary school.
