Aberdeen Local Development Plan adopted

Countesswells is confirmed as a strategic site for the development of 3,000 homes and 10 hectares of employment land

March 2012

Design team start on the Countesswells project

Optimised Environments Edinburgh (Open) is appointed as masterplanners for Countesswells. They undertake site analysis and develop initial design concepts

August 2012

Proposal of Application Notice submitted

PoAN submitted to Aberdeen City Council by Countesswsells Consortium indicating intention to carry out public consultation on the proposed development

Community consultations

A series of consultations are held, allowing local residents, businesses and stakeholder to comment on and contribute to the plans

February 2014

Development Framework and Masterplan submitted to Aberdeen City Council

The Development Framework and Phase 1 Masterplan are completed and submitted to Aberdeen Council

March 2014

Plans submitted for plannign Planning Permission in Principle application lodged

The Planning Permission in Principle application for the Countesswells developement is submitted to Aberdeen City Council Planning Department

March 2014

Detailed planning application lodged for Phase 1a Infrastructure works

A detailed application for the first phase of infrastructure works to provide all services to the site and prepare the first development parcels is submitted to Aberdeen City Council

June 2014

Development Framework and Masterplan approved

Aberdeen City Council approve the Development Framework and masterplan for the development of Countesswells

August 2014

UK Treasury support for project

A UK Treasury guarantee for a £80 million loan to finance a new development of 3,000 homes in Aberdeen is announced by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander.

October 2014

Planning approval granted

Planning permission in principle is granted by Aberdeen City Council for the devlopment of Countesswells.

November 2014

Planning approval granted for Phase 1 Infrstructure works

Aberdeen City Council approve the planning application for the first phase of infrastructure works at Countesswells

March 2016

HM Treasury confirms £86m bond to develop infrastructure

HM Treasury confirms support for the development by issuing a UK guarantee to the value of £86 million.

March 2016

Developer contributions agreed

A Section 75 Agreement is concluded which sets out developer contributions for the creation of the new community of Countesswells, meaning that work can begin on the landmark project.

April 2016

Selling agents appointed as land packages for the new community go on the market

The first land packages for the new community of Countesswells are set to go on the market following the appointment of selling agents.

April 2016

Countesswells prepares for site start with new team in place

Aberdeen City Council has releasesed planning permission in principle for the new community of Countesswells, meaning work can begin on the landmark project this month.

April 2016

Planning application made for first housing parcel

Palnning application submitted for the first 239 homes in parcel N10 by Countesswells Development Limited

May 2016

Start on site

Work commences on the first phase of infrastructure works
